Day Three

Running Funny GIF from Running GIFs

Well, as I arrive at the finish line, I've learned something about myself.  A big something...I hate social media!  As someone who has learned about marketing and merchandising in college (SMC and UCLA Extension), one would wonder how I suddenly came to this conclusion,  But here goes...

This online class pretty much says the same thing that everyone else says about using social media to promote or engage.  No problem there even though I hate dealing with the metrics involved that are used to sell clients on a service, I realized that I'm better off being on the creative side of things.

In conclusion, I will continue with my studies both for LAHC and noncredit stuff.  However, I'm going to change how I present my resume to future employers.

Day Two

My Disqus Avatar
In the past couple of years, I've become a Disqus addict.  This is a network of commenters that many bloggers use to promote post engagement.  Normally, I would jump right into my favorite blogs that are discussing shows that came on the night before.  Sort of like water cooler talk except I haven't worked in an actual office in nearly a decade.

So...after going through my emails, I have to keep it moving.  There are no client jobs right now so this is a great time to catch up on my other studies. Recently, someone complimented my avatar (above) and thinking about this makes me want to take a quick peek but I resist.

So here it goes...Day 1 of my quest to not look at the TV for the next 72 hours.  There are some shows I'd like to see live but I guess that's what DVRs are for.

Going through my log of online writing and marketing classes, I've counted about 10 I've paid for at a discount and 18 that are complementary.  I've lost access to a couple and one digital marketing class has been upgraded since.  Looks like I've got some catching up to do since this leads to an industry certification (American Management Association).

Turning Off the Idiot Box

The first time I heard this expression, I thought 'how freaking pretentious...who is anyone to say that people who watch TV continuously are less than'. What if a person watches the news, aren't they at least more informed about the world we live in?  How does a person unwind after a long day at the job?

Many questions that had a simple answer...TIME.

Most people who work full-time spend precious amounts of time stuck in traffic jams.  We use our time to reach out to people who may want to spend hours talking about a boring subject or one that has yet to be resolved.  Those who like to shop will spend more time walking around than buying. The average person should have the right to spend their time as they please.

When we get older or have a life-changing event occur, we tend to change how we see time.  Sometimes, there are regrets but most people tend to seize the moment and do less procrastinating,  Even if breaking habits are hard, it's time to see new things, meet new people, or make a difference.
